First day in London and I have fallen head over heels with these ladies….and Tom. Everyone is so sweet and caring and the weather makes it feel enough like home to keep me from being too home sick. I miss my friends and family but these girls (and Tom) are going to be such a loving family that I will never feel too alone. God is so apparent in this house just in the little ways we treat each other and talk to each other. I cannot wait to see what else He has in store for these relationships and time we will spend together!
So about my living situation…Mother, I over packed to say the least. I fit everything I brought into 3 small drawers and a small “wardrobe” that I share with Amy. By the way, she’s teaching me the British lingo since she’s from somewhere two hours north. I am on the top bunk of a three story bed and I share a room with 4 other girls that has at most 140 square feet of room and 75% of that is bed and dressers. There are 14 of us on this team and Tom is the only guy. He’s from London along with Amy and a few of the workers. We have two houses that are about a 20 minute walking distance apart from each other and we are in the bigger of the two with the dining area that the “blue house” (because it’s blue…) comes over to use for meals. So far I’ve has spaghetti and hamburgers. Off to an amazing start.(: Tomorrow we are touring London and sight-seeing as well as learning the culture. We learned that there are over 200 languages in London and about 30 nations represented in the people that live here.
My internet isn’t going to be up until Tuesday but I am writing these as the days pass and saving them in word until the wifi is up and running. I had it for a few minutes today to check in with the parentals so they know I’m living and said hi on my status for facebook but it was at the other house.
When I first got off the plane my first concern was…where do I go? Then I just started reading the signs and found my way to baggage where I grabbed and towed all THREE to the exit where Jose and his daughter met me. Thank goodness they recognized me because my short term memory had failed me once again on being able to pick them out in the sea of faces. The car ride was great and when we got to the house everyone was very nice and inviting right away. Amy had arrived 10 minutes prior to me and we unpacked and have started a little relationship that I hope grows into something great. (: I have started to get to know the other ladies later on tonight and had tea with Amy, Tom, Mekayla, Ella and one of the workers and talked about music and got to know the other house a little better too. I have to get up a little early tomorrow for the tour but luckily I was smart and grabbed a shower in one of the two we have before I am getting ready for bed.
Good night for now, hopefully I will get this up soon with a few more days of stories. (:
ps. sorry I just got my internet working.
